Eris is squaring Saturn, Jupiter and Pluto this year, and she is the goddess of discord, so the stressful squares between uptight Saturn, change making Pluto and activist Eris, is where the real action is this year.
Eris and Saturn were square on the 17th of January (Trump’s impeachment trial started in the Senate on the 16th) and Eris and Pluto were square on the 26th January, meaning that the much hyped Saturn Pluto (& Ceres) conjunction was almost exactly square Eris.
The 2nd Eris Pluto square was exact again in the middle of June and we saw the results in the massive protests around the world supporting Black Lives Matter. The protests were sparked by the death of George Floyd on the 25th of May when Pluto and Eris were 30 minutes away from their exact square and Mercury was 9 minutes away from an exact sextile with Eris.
As Jupiter retrograded back to conjunct Pluto early this month it brought out Trump's marshal-law tendencies and he has responded to the unrest by sending in troops.
The Pluto Eris square has been in orb since the beginning of the year and will continue to be in orb through until after the next hit on 11th December, so this whole year activist Eris is challenging change-making Pluto. And this is just as Pluto comes up to its return in the US chart next summer, which is why we have seen so much unrest in the US in the last couple of months.
We’ll probably see another spike in unrest in mid December, lasting through until early next year and it should start to ease in February, but there could be a repeat of it from August through December next year.
While this next spike is after the US election and so could indicate protest at Trump's re-election, his handling of the virus and the economy has been so bad that his polling is at its lowest level ever and so it is not really possible for him to be re-elected at this stage.
The fact that the hit comes in mid December also suggests that the unrest is more likely to come from white nationalists spurred on by Trumps desperation at losing power and protesting against Biden's coming inauguration.
In a recent Fox interview, Trump refused to commit to leaving office if he loses in November, so it may be that he protests all the way through to the inauguration, whipping up his base to protest and obviously the BLM protesters will be out in force demanding he step down, with the Republicans one by one falling off their perch into agreeing to his marshal law suggestions or not as the case may be.
There will be a climax of this process just before Christmas, alongside the Jupiter and Saturn conjunction, when Mars conjuncts Eris and they both closely square Pluto... this could be a last minute power play in a desperate attempt to retain control.
Which ever way it goes, this election will not solve the divide in the US, but the crises we are living through are forcing us to confront the truth of who we are and how we live together. Eris is a truth teller, she is called the goddess of discord, but she doesn't create discord, she just reveals it, and it is only when it is revealed that we can build accord.
And we need discord to grow. Change is not possible without discord. That is why she is working so strongly in the United States in these years, because the US is the oldest democracy on the planet... But the US is coming up to it's Pluto return in the coming years and no country survives that transit in its current form, which is what makes these squares between Pluto and Eris so important this year.
