The Astrology of Haumea

This is the first of a series of textbooks on the astrology of the new dwarf planets, based on the research at the Dwarf Planet University.

Probably the most valuable section is the house interpretations, looking at how Haumea manifests in our daily lives with example case studies.

There is also a workbook to locate and on-board this new energy in your chart. And a section introducing each of the dwarf planets to put Haumea in context.

Lunar Eclipse Conjunct Sedna

Today we have some beautiful flows, with Mercury trine Neptune and Venus trine Uranus, together with a lunar eclipse in which the Moon is conjunct the new outer-limit of our solar system, Sedna. I look at Sedna as the higher octave of Ceres, which is the higher octave of the Moon, so the higher and lower octaves are conjunct with this eclipse. Eclipses are turning points where things come to light that motivate change and with the lunar eclipse these will be emotional things. Memories and dreams are likely to come to the surface, especially with today's trines, but lunar eclipses can also bring final endings. The conjunction with Sedna lifts the eclipse into a 'Soul's Path of Destiny' moment. Sedna is always trying to get us on the spiritual path and, when we are on the path, she sends transcendent crises where we must let go and transcend to a new spiritual awareness. So the conjunction with the eclipse suggests this could be a moment of letting go of repeated pain and suffering and starting the transcendence to a new understanding of these issues. Sedna represents our epigenetic heritage, the heritage we have from our ancestors through our genes, we are the embodiment of this heritage, and the Moon represents our embodiment in each moment, so with Sedna conjunct the eclipse-Moon it is likely something will come to light about these epigenetic issues: about our ancestors, our family, our body and how we nourish it on both a biological and spiritual level. I've been re-reading Rudhyar's transpersonal astrology books, and he pointed out that the higher octaves work in a different way to the lower octaves, that they are not simply more spiritual expressions of familiar energies, but rather that they act on the inner octaves to re-polarise them, to grow our consciousness.

When Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are considered as "higher" expressions of such planets as Mercury, Venus and Mars… the closer planets are seen to represent a "lower octave" of biological-personal functions or energies; the more remote ones, beyond Saturn, a "higher octave" constituted of more transcendent and "spiritual" activities or qualities of being. There is some truth, no doubt, in such statements if one restricts oneself to a consideration of only the external events of a person's life. But the essential fact is that the activities of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto run counter to the normal functions of Mercury, Venus and Mars. The former are not just personal activities of a "higher" kind; they are activities meant to disturb and transform — indeed, utterly to repolarize and reorient those of Mercury, Venus and Mars.[i]

From this perspective we can understand why Sedna often seems to be callously indifferent to our feelings and survival needs in that moment of transcendent crisis, because she is re-polarising the Moon to grow our consciousness. From the lunar perspective, wallowing and sentimentalising can be an answer, particularly at the lunar eclipse, but with todays conjunction to Sedna, if we do, it is likely to come with a transcendent epigenetic crisis. We would be well advised to instead allow the re-polarisation in our feelings that the heritage issues are demanding.
