NCGR Mani Research Project
About
This group will research the astrological meaning of the newly named dwarf planet, Mani - the Man in the Moon. The group will meet monthly on Zoom, take on different research tasks, and post the results of this research on a blog in this online group.
We start by researching the Myth, interpreting the physical and orbital characteristics, and looking at the Sabian Symbol for the discovery degree. We also look at events that occurred around the discovery date, and we interpret the discovery chart. This gives us a feeling for how Mani is acting astrologically, and then we look at him in our own charts and in the charts of case studies to develop that understanding.

Máni is a large trans-Neptunian planetoid in the Kuiper belt. The surface of Máni has been observed through stellar occultations, which have revealed massive topographic features along the outline of its shape. These features include a mountain-like peak that is 25 km (16 mi) tall and a crater-like depression that is 320 km (200 mi) wide and 45 km (28 mi) deep. Máni's topographic features are among the tallest and deepest known for Solar System bodies.
In Norse mythology, Máni is the male personification of the Moon who crosses the sky in a horse-drawn carriage. He is continually pursued by the Great Wolf, Hati, who catches him at Ragnarök. The cosmos in Norse mythology consists of Nine Worlds that flank a central sacred tree. These worlds are foretold to be reborn after the events of Ragnarök when an immense battle occurs between the gods and their enemies. As a result the world is enveloped in flames, only to be reborn anew. There the surviving gods will meet, and the land will be fertile and green.
