The Astrology of Haumea

This is the first of a series of textbooks on the astrology of the new dwarf planets, based on the research at the Dwarf Planet University.

Probably the most valuable section is the house interpretations, looking at how Haumea manifests in our daily lives with example case studies.

There is also a workbook to locate and on-board this new energy in your chart. And a section introducing each of the dwarf planets to put Haumea in context.

Jupiter biquintile Gonggong

I hope you've been enjoying the Mars sextile Jupiter that we've been having over the past couple of days, this has been a time of taking action to expand our lives in some way. Jupiter is about to dive into Leo tomorrow, just as Mercury turns retrograde, so this expansion could involve getting ready to put yourself or your product more on stage in some way, but you might find that the first three weeks of that involves some reassessment, or that you have to be persistent in your communication to make sure your messages are getting through.

Jupiter is also biquintile Gonggong, our new planet of empathy consciousness, at 6 degrees of Pisces, so there is a wonderfully alive convergence happening in the sky over these next few days, and it has everything to do with showing up, participating, and trusting in the give and take of life, even when the timing feels a little chaotic. This aspect is newly within a 2 degree orb, it will be exact later next week and go out of 2 degree orb a week later.

Gonggong was discovered at 1 degree Pisces, and the Sabian Symbol for that degree is: A Crowded Marketplace, where Farmers and Middlemen Display a Great Variety of Products. This image talks about the essential health of a community as something built through constant commingling and interchange — the buying, selling, haggling, offering, and receiving that keeps a living system circulating and thriving. This is Gonggong's deepest signature. He is not a planet of withdrawal or solitary mastery. He is the planet of the marketplace itself — the energetic and emotional give and take that we participate in simply by being part of a community, and which is essential for our survival and our growth.

Once we're on the spiritual path, Gonggong, is compassionate, sensitive, and genuinely empathic. He lets us work intellectually and emotionally at the same time, lifting us out of our own personal emotional weather so that we can walk a mile in someone else's shoes, feel into their experience from the inside, and respond to them in a way that actually helps shift their energy. He is, at this level, something like an empathic wizard, able to read the marketplace of feeling around him and trade in it with real skill and generosity.

Now, into this picture, Jupiter is moving — about to leave the private, nurturing waters of Cancer and stride boldly into Leo, the sign of confident self-expression, creative risk, and visibility. This is a significant shift. Jupiter in Leo asks us to step forward, to be seen, to trust our own light enough to share it generously with others, and to take the kind of bold, heart-led action that genuinely expands our lives. And this ingress is happening at almost exactly the same moment that Mercury turns retrograde — so just as Jupiter is asking us to step boldly into the marketplace, Mercury is asking us to slow our communication down, double check our assumptions, and revisit anything that has been left unclear or unresolved.

This combination is not a contradiction so much as an invitation to participate wisely. We are being asked to enter the marketplace of life with real boldness and warmth, Leo-style, while remaining humble enough, Mercury-retrograde-style, to recheck our assumptions about what others actually need from us, rather than assuming we already know.

This is precisely where Gonggong's biquintile to Jupiter becomes so useful. The biquintile is one of the fifth-harmonic aspects, associated with creative mastery and a particular, somewhat urgent flow between two energies that wants to find expression in the world. With Jupiter and Gonggong in biquintile right now, we have real support for bringing empathic, generous, large-hearted participation into whatever marketplace we find ourselves in — whether that marketplace is our workplace, our family, our creative community, or simply the ordinary daily exchange of energy with the people around us.

For those of us walking the spiritual path, this is a rich and energising moment. Jupiter's move into Leo wants you to step into the marketplace with real confidence, generosity, and visible warmth — to bring your gifts forward boldly rather than holding them back. Gonggong's biquintile is offering you the empathic skill to do this well: not steamrolling the marketplace with your own agenda, but genuinely feeling into the people you are exchanging with, sensing what they need, and shaping your offering so that it lands with real benefit on both sides.

With Jupiter newly arrived in expressive Leo, you have real momentum behind you to put something out into your marketplace: a piece of work, an idea, a creative offering, a generous gesture. Let it move. Let it circulate. Trust the give and take.

And because Mercury is retrograde through this time, build in the practice of checking your assumptions as you go. Before you assume you know what the people around you are hoping to receive from you, ask. Before you assume your communication has landed the way you intended, check. This is not a contradiction of Jupiter's boldness; it is what makes the boldness genuinely empathic rather than merely loud.

Gonggong at his most spiritually evolved becomes a cosmic nurturer of the emotional and psychic bonds between us, able to magically stir the energies in a room or a relationship to foster real connection. That magic depends on sensitivity as much as confidence.

You may also find, over the coming days, that you experience watershed moments — small releases of insight or emotional clarity that empower whatever comes next. Trust them. Let yourself participate fully in the marketplace this sky is opening, with your whole generous, empathic, Leo-bright self.
