The Astrology of Haumea

This is the first of a series of textbooks on the astrology of the new dwarf planets, based on the research at the Dwarf Planet University.

Probably the most valuable section is the house interpretations, looking at how Haumea manifests in our daily lives with example case studies.

There is also a workbook to locate and on-board this new energy in your chart. And a section introducing each of the dwarf planets to put Haumea in context.

Jupiter sextile Varuna

I hope you are enjoying today's trine between Mercury and Saturn. Our ideas and our responsibilities are aligned and we will have practical communications. Saturn is stationary however, and about to turn retrograde this weekend, so we have to be careful not to imagine that our resources will keep expanding.

We should also avoid being hard on ourselves, or others, or allowing ourselves to be weighed down by our responsibilities. We likely feel the Saturnian energy turning inward and may be trying to put the last pieces of something in place before that occurs. Today's Mercury conjunction will help with that if we are gentle on ourselves.

And meanwhile the higher octave of Saturn, Varuna, is sextile Jupiter and quintile Uranus. Varuna takes Saturn's responsibility to a more spiritual level and turns it into a sovereignty which is rooted in vast experience. Sovereignty is a dance between our intention and the collective psyche, we have to claim it and at the same time others have to give it to us.

The trine with Jupiter, and quintile with Uranus, tells us that in our dance of sovereignty this week, if we are open to new and innovative approaches, we will likely have some lucky breaks. So, let's look at how we can improve our dance to better enable this.

We have to engage with these new consciousness energies to enable them in our lives. That's why I included exercises for each planet in my book New Stars for a New Era, A Consciousness Workbook for our 10 New Planets. So, here are three exercises from the Varuna chapter, to help enable our dance of sovereignty.

Consciousness Exercises

Firstly, claiming sovereignty in your personal life. Identify something in your life which you would like more control over, and ask yourself, “Who has control over this now?” Then ask, “When did I agree to this deal?” And finally, “How can I change this deal to give me more control?” Then start the renegotiation process suggested by your answers.

Second, claiming sovereignty in the world. Identify something you would like to do or offer, and ask yourself, “What do I know well enough in this area to offer?” And then, “How can I start offering it?” Choose your best answer, and do it! And be persistent about it, particularly through the early stages.

And finally, allowing sovereignty in others. When people come to you for help, ask yourself, “Is this my sovereign duty? Or is it best to let this person learn from their own experience?” If it is our sovereign duty, we have to do it, but like the guru turning away the seeker because they are not yet ready to start the study, we also need to learn to say, “I can’t help with that, you’ll need to do it yourself”.

When we embrace our sovereignty, Varuna enables us to oversee the world and make impartial judgments. In myth he has a thousand eyes and he enables us to know what is true in any situation, and what is morally right. He gives us a desire for justice and the ability to understand the Divine Order. And, when we do the work required, we gain access to unlimited knowledge and become a sort of sage in some area.

So, work to activate your thousand eyes. We ‘know’ so much more than our mind will often acknowledge. When faced with a decision, open yourself to receive as much relevant data as possible from the world and trust your inner mastery to process it.

As we grow spiritually, Varuna enables us to develop our individual brilliance and talent through a deep devotion to our area of passion. We know that we have a soul of peace and love, and we understand divine order, so we can relax into our sovereignty and practice compassion in action.

Varuna Scholarships

I have a handful of scholarships on Varuna if you want to develop your deep-devotion at one third of the full price. And, just to explain for the newcomers to the newsletter, that the courses mix webinars, blog-posted assignments and live Zoom Q&As, so you can attend from anywhere in the world.

You develop your deep-devotion by studying Varuna in your chart, by understanding in what part of your life (house) this manifests, how it is connected with with your other aspects of personality and consciousness (aspects), and how it manifests in the events in your life (transits). And you don't have to understand any of these things to start with, because we embrace the wisdom of the community in the courses (Haumea), so we help one another.

We start with a live Welcome Q&A and explore Varuna's House position in the first fortnight, the aspects in the second fortnight and transits in the third. Each fortnight includes an instructional webinar, an investigative assignment based on your personal chart and a live 2 hour Zoom Q&A session.

The more you participate (Gonggong), the more you learn. And there is no right and wrong in the Kuiper belt, that's a Saturnian construct, so all contributions are valued (Eris). Assignments are posted on a private forum so you can learn from and comment on posts from your fellow course members. And the Q&A sessions are recorded so you can pick up classes you miss.

Join us if you can on Varuna, and thanks for your work embracing these new aspects of consciousness.
