Just Released!

The Astrology of Haumea

This is the first of a series of textbooks on the astrology of the new dwarf planets, based on the research at the Dwarf Planet University.

Probably the most valuable section is the house interpretations, looking at how Haumea manifests in our daily lives with example case studies.

There is also a workbook to locate and on-board this new energy in your chart. And a section introducing each of the dwarf planets to put Haumea in context.

Mars sextile Quaoar

I hope you are enjoying today's Venus conjunct the South Node. This is a time when our values and relationships are strongly coloured by the karmic release that is occurring in our lives. And, with the opposition to the North Node, this is setting up our relationships and values so we can do the destined work that we are here to do.

The Sun is also closely square Quaoar today, our new planet of spirit consciousness, at 9 degrees Capricorn. Quaoar encourages us to find a practice to bring spirit into our physical lives, so we may be feeling the challenge to make the space for this in our lives.

Fortunately Mars will be sextile Quaoar for the next 5 days, through until the full moon, so this is an ideal time to take action to enable your spiritual practise in some way. Mars in Scorpio is strategic and focussed, and Quaoar in Capricorn is encouraging us to find a spiritual practise which is practical and social.

Quaoar is probably the most lively of the new planets, singing and dancing the world into existence in the mythology of the native American Tongva people of California. The Tongva look at dance as a way of creating harmony with the earth, dealing with emotions, and celebrating.

Quaoar first sings and dances to create the Sky Father, then they both sing the Earth Mother and Grandfather Sun into existence. As they sing and dance each of the deities into existence, the creation force becomes richer as they each join the chorus.

We know that song and dance are practices that call spirit into our lives, as are activities like meditation, yoga, martial arts, all creative classes, bush walks and nature adventures, and even sport. Anything can be a practice to enrich your life with spirit. If you don’t have one, these next days would be a great opportunity to try a few of the popular options and see what you like.

However, if you are experiencing Mars' combative energy unconsciously, you might find that you have a tendency to snarl yourself up in chaos in these next days and thereby turn your life into a soap opera. Sometimes we become so desperate for spiritual meaning that we create a drama to fill the emptiness we feel inside.

If you find that you do have an inability to access spirit, this could also bring a fear of change, or of group involvement. Or you could find that your spirit is being suppressed by rules and regulations which are being imposed on you. The answer to any of this is to find, or deepen, your spiritual practise.

As we develop spiritually, we learn to embrace a spirit of discovery, and to see life as a dynamic meditation. Quaoar’s focus on practice is particularly valuable here, as we realise that anything can be a spiritual practice. We see that everything is valuable and that it can all be woven into the song and dance we are doing which makes sense out of the world for us.

So, if you are allergic to group practices and shy of classes, or you don’t fit into the popular practices, these next days are a great opportunity to ‘do your own thing’. You probably are already. But remember practices are regular and the point is to bring spirit into matter, not just go through the motions.

At the top level with Quaoar, our connection to spirit enriches our lives, allowing us to be present in each moment, and revealing the possibilities available to create our reality. We begin to understand how we can push the limit of what is possible by working in harmony with others. We see how each creative act adds value to the whole and works together to reinforce our creative fervour.
