Just Released!

The Astrology of Haumea

This is the first of a series of textbooks on the astrology of the new dwarf planets, based on the research at the Dwarf Planet University.

Probably the most valuable section is the house interpretations, looking at how Haumea manifests in our daily lives with example case studies.

There is also a workbook to locate and on-board this new energy in your chart. And a section introducing each of the dwarf planets to put Haumea in context.

Uranus sesquiquadrate Makemake

I hope you are enjoying today's ingress of Saturn into Aries, as he prepares to conjunct Neptune next week. This ingress is likely igniting a powerful drive which is pushing you to pursue your goals with more vigour and determination than ever before. You can look at the next couple of years as a cosmic boot camp designed to reshape how you approach leadership, individuality, and personal ambition.

However, it's important to remember that with this newfound drive comes the inherent challenges of Saturn's restrictive and cautious nature, which can manifest as obstacles that slow you down, demanding a deeper level of introspection and patience. This transit might also bring latent fears to the surface. You need to embrace any challenges you encounter as a way to grow and fortify your resolve. By recognizing that challenges are opportunities to build inner strength, you can transform fear into empowerment.

For all of us on the spiritual path, this can be a transformative period to delve into shadow work or healing practices. You can explore emotional blocks and release fears, trusting that each release strengthens your spiritual foundation and personal resilience. At this level, Saturn in Aries encourages you to lead by example, embodying your spiritual values in your everyday actions. This is a great time to participate in groups or circles that align with your beliefs, guiding and supporting others in their spiritual journeys with compassion and wisdom.

Embrace the challenges as lessons, seeing them as mirrors reflecting your innermost fears and desires. By addressing these with courage and honesty, you can transcend limitations and expand your spiritual horizons. Consider integrating meditation, mindfulness, or other grounding practices into your daily routine, allowing Saturn to help you build a firm spiritual foundation. You might also explore new spiritual practices that excite your Aries curiosity. Let each experience, no matter how challenging, serve as a step towards deeper self-understanding and spiritual fulfilment.

Embrace Your Curiosity

Meanwhile Makemake, our new planet of systems consciousness, at 12 degrees of Libra, is in a fated inconjunct with Mercury today and a challenging sesquiquadrate with Uranus in these weeks. We can look at these three planets as the higher octaves of one another, where Makemake gives Uranus’s intuitive impulses meaning and context, while Uranus’s lateral web gives Mercury’s detail an energetic network to organise and connect his information. All three planets are tricksters, and Makemake is a spiritual trickster who allows us to experiment with the area of life signified by his position in our chart.

Makemake is the model that we build of our world from Uranus’s intuitive flashes, and inherent within that is our understanding of our place in that world. There is no ‘real’ world, there are just phenomena which we interpret based on our experience. A new-born baby sees colour and hears sounds, but they have no Makemakian framework to make any sense of it. This model grows over time as we learn to interpret the phenomena around us. Then we react, based on that interpretation, and so shape our reality through those responses.

So in the next couple of days, with the inconjunct between Makemake and Mercury, our understanding of our world will sometimes be flowing with our ideas and communication, and sometimes not. In our attempts to join these dots we will be reinterpreting our model of how it all works in a fated way. Both Makemake and Mercury love this reinterpretation process, so this is a special opportunity. Makemake shares Mercury’s curiosity, but he is looking at the bigger picture as well as the detail. He talks about freedom, expansiveness, and keen vision, and he encourages us to develop a richer awareness by taking old ideas and playing with them experimentally to liberate their active components.

There Are No Mistakes

The sesquiquadrate to Uranus meanwhile is challenging us to incorporate new intuitive insights into our model of the world. We are in a period of rapid change and as we drive our model of the world around each day, we may find that the map we are using needs to be updated. As a result we could find that we get into situations that feel like mistakes or like dead ends, or that a previous way of working may need to be updated for the new environment, or that unusual situations intrude into our world which demand new responses from us.

However this manifests for you, remember for Makemake there are no mistakes, because it is all a learning experience. So you need to be playful in your approach, to engage with the world in an an experimental way and constantly update your model based on the new data. The more data you have the better your model will work. This is the systems consciousness of Makemake.

The sesquiquadrate is a square and a half, so it's a challenge to move towards completion. This aspect came within a 1 degree orb in mid December, it is exact today, and it will go out of orb in the middle of next month on March 14. So if you have been experiencing Uranian impulses to update your world view in the last couple of months, and if these are coming to a head now, they will gradually ease in these next weeks as Uranus speeds up from his recent station.

We create our world by how we perceive it and interact with it. Until now, this has largely been an unconscious process, but as we embrace our systems consciousness, we begin to understand the creative power of our personal view of reality. This is the power that ‘great minds’ have to shape the consensus view.

I highly recommend the Dwarf Planets Course for the insights and the amount of new information and perspective gathered. Alan’s teaching inspires one and brings new light and spiritual understanding to charts (certainly to mine). His humor and friendly approach made the seminars very enjoyable, yet profound.  Elisabetta Quintiliani - Italy
