I hope you have enjoyed today's Venus conjunct Uranus. This is the start of a new cycle of intuitive connection in our values and relationships. Mercury is also conjunct Eris today, so our ideas and communication will be coloured by Eris's inclusive world view.
She's a provocateur at the personal planet level, promoting debate and progress, so we might find ourselves speaking out today, or find that others in our circle are doing that. She is also competitive at this unconscious level, so this energy could also come into play in our communications.
Once we get onto the spiritual path we can transmute the truth-telling ability of Eris into something more like a personal spiritual guide. She gives us an ability to connect with spirit in some way. So today we may be able to connect with our inner spirit guide, as we start a new cycle of idea-based research.
Birth of the New Age
Let's see how this works in a case study. Alice Bailey was a writer of more than twenty-four books on theosophical subjects and one of the first writers to use the term New Age. If you believe that our soul incarnates over a series of life-times with an intention to grow through those experiences, then you are a follower of Alice Bailey.
Alice has Eris in the 8th house of the occult, quintile Pluto in the 10th house of profession and bi-quintile her ASC. The quintiles and bi-quintiles are evolutionary flows, so her truth-telling activism in occult areas had an evolutionary impact through her advocacy and the transformative power of her professional work.
Her Eris is also in a grand trine with Mercury in the 12th house of the unconscious and her Part of Fortune in the 4th house. She described the majority of her work as having been telepathically dictated to her by a Tibetan Master of Wisdom, Djwal Khul.
Teacher Appears
It was in November 1919 when she first made contact with the Tibetan Master Djwhal Khul. That month Eris was transiting square her Sun and opposite her Moon, both within 2 degrees. Eris was also closely semi-square to her Neptune and sextile her Pluto, both in the 10th. These aspects talk of the channeling she was doing. And Eris was exactly sextile to Haumea on the 11th house cusp. So, she was reborn in the collective consciousness through this manifestation of her guide.
Arcane School
In 1923, she established the Arcane School for the education and development of spiritual disciplines and techniques, such as meditation. In 1924 it published her popular great invocation prayer and would eventually publish 24 other works in 50 languages. Her writings continue to be a main influence of "new agers" or those interested in the occult or deeper spiritual mysteries.
As her Arcane School started in April 1923, Eris was transiting in her 9th house of higher education, closely opposite her Moon in the 3rd, semi-square her Chiron in the 10th, and sextile her Haumea on her 11th house cusp. These transits signalled the communication with people that the school would facilitate, the active growth process in society it would challenge, and the rebirth of consciousness that it would encourage.
A transiting finger-of-fate was formed when the school was started, with transiting Saturn in the 3rd house closely inconjunct her Eris, and transiting Neptune in the 1st house also closely inconjunct. This signalled it would provide a structure for her communication and be a spiritual expression of her essence. And transiting Uranus was closely conjunct her Eris in the 8th. Signaling the birth of her occult network.

As a first time student of astrology, I can honestly say that aside from Alan (a wonderful teacher and guide), every one of the students in the class was a teacher for me. I learned so much and can’t wait for the next class to begin. - Mary Anne Pitt, USA
