Pluto in Capricorn will square retrograde Eris in Aries at the end of next week. This is the third of three hits. The first was was at the end of January when the United States officially went into recession, ending the longest expansion of growth since 1854.
That was also when the United Kingdom formally withdrew from the European Union (Brexit). And the World Health Organisation declared the Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency of International Concern at a meeting in Geneva. This was also the period of Harvey Weinstein's trial for rape and the impeachment trial of US President Donald Trump.
I first mentioned this square transit in this newsletter in July, talking about the second square which was in the middle of June when the Black Lives Matter protests were occurring over the George Floyd murder and Trump's authoritarian response.
Trump also removed transgender health protections at this time. And he controversially held his first re-election rally, with only 6,200 people attending despite the campaign stating 1 million had registered. A social media campaign organised by teens on TikTok, K-Pop fans and others, claimed responsibility for wildly inflating the expected attendance.
In the Philippines, journalist and 'Time Person of the Year' Maria Ressa was found guilty of cyber libel in Manila, amid claims the charges were politically motivated. And 20 Indian soldiers were killed in 1st deadly clash on the Chinese Indian border in 45 years in the Himalayas.
However in a couple of landmark decisions, the US Supreme Court ruled that gay and transgender workers cannot be discriminated against in the workplace. And that the Obama-era Dreamers Program (DACA), enabling undocumented migrant children ability to study and work in the US, can stay.
With the approaching third square transit we again see the White House caged behind a riot fence, but we see no protests. Even the Trump supporters who believe his lies know they are fooling themselves and so there is no right wing protest. We may yet see right wing terrorism, particularly as Mars conjoins Eris and squares Pluto on Christmas eve, or we could see a last desperate act from Trump to try to hold onto power.
Eris is a truth-telling activist and together with Pluto she is stirring the pot to encourage us to stop fooling ourselves and grow in consciousness. The more we can be self aware in these coming weeks the more positive the outcome will be for each of us personally and for the planet.
And it is auspicious that the exact square will fall on the 10th of December, which is Human Rights Day. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted over 70 years ago by the United Nations General Assembly and this day is observed to protect the fundamental human rights of all people and their basic human freedom.
