We are truely blessed in this year of turmoil to have Sedna trining Saturn as our society is transformed at the start of this new Pluto Saturn cycle, because these trines turn the upheaval around us into spiritual opportunities. Sedna's spiritual opportunities can come at us like a freight train however and may involve a pressure from things like abuse of power.
There are three Saturn trines to Sedna this year. The first was on the 18th February. That day over 2,000 former Justice Department officials called on US Attorney General William Barr to resign after he intervened to reduce the sentencing recommendation for President Trump’s longtime friend and former campaign adviser Roger Stone.
And the Boy Scouts of America filed for bankruptcy protection as it faced hundreds of lawsuits for sexual abuse. At least 12,000 cases of abuse at the hands of Boy Scout masters and volunteers have been identified.
The second trine, with retrograde Saturn, was on the 23rd of July. That was the day President Trump announced that he was sending a “surge” of federal officers into Chicago, Albuquerque and other large Democrat-run cities, claiming it was needed to combat a rise in crime.
In Canada that day a federal court ruled that an asylum agreement with the United States was invalid because the U.S. violates the human rights of refugees. And back in the US, the Democratic-led House passed the NO BAN Act, legislation aimed to reverse all versions of President Trump’s travel bans that target many predominantly Muslim countries.
The third trine will occur on the 27th November adding to the pressure for some form of spiritual transcendence after the US election. Sedna's pressure is relentless, as we see from the two previous trines, and she will be retrograde at that time trining a direct Saturn which is likely to add to the pressure.
Retrograde Sedna
Sedna will turn retrograde at the end of the month. She will hit 28 degrees of Taurus, and then turn retrograde until February next year. She is retrograde for five months of every year and as a result almost half of us have Sedna retrograde in our charts.
I’m going to posit a theory that if Sedna talks about the big picture of our destiny and about our heredity over lifetimes, then those with it retrograde may have a mission in this life that has been set up in previous lives and those with it direct may be setting out on a new spiritual mission.
But what does it mean from a mundane point of view when the planet is retrograde? Following my natal interpretation, I suggest we will likely follow through with opportunities for manifesting our spiritual destiny that we set up in the direct phase - just like a Saturn retrograde. But if we are not working consciously and we haven't set up any opportunities to step up spiritually during the retrograde period, these will likely be forced on us by crises.
And remember, if you have heard me talk about the myth, when we are in the water with a Sedna crisis, when we are out of depth and all at sea, our tendency is to grab hold of the boat of reality, to try and solve the crisis, but that is just going to bring more pain and suffering with the axe coming down on our fingers.
Sedna crises cannot be solved, so we must be counter-intuitive in those moments and just let go and transcend. Transcendence is scary... we don't know where that's going to take us, but it's better than the repeated pain of the axe coming down on the fingers.
So in this next retrograde phase if you feel repeated pain in some area of your life, - likely the area of your natal Sedna's House position, or her transiting House position - try letting go of that pain and suffering and see where that takes you.
That sounds easy, but as a Scorpion I can tell you, letting go is seldom easy and Sedna is seldom easy in her action in our lives, but if we remember that she is always trying to get us onto the spiritual path and if we honour that, she becomes a strong spiritual ally... Transcendence is fun, let's all try it!
