I hope you are enjoying today's Mercury conjunct Neptune. Today our spiritual consciousness colours our communication and ideas. Together, these two are a bit like a spiritual trickster, and they are conjunct the North Node within a couple of degrees, so we're creating our destiny with the spiritual ideas and communication that we have in these days.
Venus is stationary retrograde however, so over the past week we've likely been using the last vestiges of forward motion to get whatever we are doing, as close as possible to how we want it. For the next 6 weeks we'll be reevaluating that achievement, as it is tested by everyone's indifference because of their inward values focus.
However, on both a global level and on a personal level, we are really ready for this reassessment of our values and relationships. So this is an important time in our lives. As she stations, Venus is closely opposite Makemake at 11 degrees of Libra, and conjunct Salacia at 10 degrees Aries.
The conjunction to Salacia brings a desire for intimacy to our relationship reassessment over these next weeks. Venus and Salacia conjunct are like a couple of young women out on the town, with Salacia encouraging Venus to let her hair down and be sexually adventurous. And the opposition to Makemake gives us a rich understanding of the world, which provides a context for our values reassessment. Against that background, the sensitive interplay that Venus and Salacia are encouraging has the potential to lift us to a higher consciousness.
Makemake is our understanding of the world and our place in it, our systems consciousness. The Sabian Symbol for his discovery degree is: A Girl's Basketball Team, and this tells us that playfulness, teamwork and sensitivity will be important in developing our systems consciousness.
When we are at inner planet consciousness, we likely have a more limited, short-term view, which can encourage us to be reckless with our relationships and values, and to cut corners where we see that we can. And we're all working at inner planet consciousness, even as we develop our outer-planet higher consciousness.
At the inner level, our lack of respect for traditional ideas might lead us to engage in double talk and be manipulative with our communication in our relationships. And we need to be careful not to indulge in practices such as backbiting and rivalry, which undermine our own position.
So, in your Venus reassessment in these next weeks, try not to lose sight of the bigger picture, or you may find yourself not wanting to play by the rules or cooperate with others. Or we could try to hog the limelight rather than humbly play our part, thus sabotaging the collective success.
We use our understanding of the world, our Makemake, to keep ourselves safe and one way to do that is to blend into the background. So we might react to demands for commitment in these weeks by taking flight to avoid the consequences of our actions, or we might develop an ability to hide in plain sight as a coping skill.
Makemake enables us to understand the context of each moment and, at the inner planet level, we may use that understanding to blend into the background like a chameleon: like those characters in television ads whose clothes are patterned like the wallpaper, we are only seen when we move.
If you are using your Makemake to stay safe by blending in, and you want to change that, try standing out in a small way to start with. Change one thing about your wallpaper-clothing so you are more visible in some way and learn from the results.
As we develop spiritually, Makemake enables us to see the big picture and integrate this with our personal devotional focus with such depth that it may well be called genius. And, as we deepen this cosmic consciousness, we experience the world as an organic whole which allows us to participate in that whole as fully as possible.
So the Venus opposition, as she stations retrograde, is giving us a rich context for our values reassessment, and encouraging us to deepen our cosmic consciousness as we learn to stand out from the crowd in our relationships.
