Ixion inconjunct Varuna

I hope you are enjoying the sextile between Venus and Mars that we are blessed with for the next couple of days. Our values and our assertiveness are working together, which is great for all our interactions.

And the Sun is conjunct Sedna today, the planet of spiritual destiny, so we are doing soul work in our ego experience. Your soul wants to grow in this life in a certain way, and your ego wants to be the hero in each of your experiences. However your ego may have to surrender centre stage today so you can work with some soul level growth. The Sun is also biquintile Ixion today, the planet of seeker consciousness, who encourages our authenticity, at 7 degrees Capricorn. And Ixion is inconjunct Varuna, the planet of mastery consciousness, who enables our sovereignty, at 8 degrees Leo. The biquintile is an evolutionary flow between our will and our authenticity, and the inconjunct is a fated aspect, sometimes creating flows between our authenticity and our sovereignty, and bringing challenges at others.

So, if you do the soul level work that is coming up today, you can integrate your authenticity and your ego centre at a very deep level. And your authenticity is in a fated relationship with your sovereignty. Which means sometimes you can be yourself and be sovereign, and at other times your efforts to be yourself and your efforts to be sovereign are working at cross purposes.

Sovereignty is a dance between your intention and the collective psyche. You have to claim it and, at the same time, others have to agree to give it to you. You start this process by stepping out in some way and saying, “I can do this” and then you have to do that thing and keep doing it over time, until you gain notability for it. Your persistence builds an audience for your work, and gives you experience you can rely on. 

The Ixion inconjunct Varuna is a longer term transit which has been within a one degree orb since early March and will go out of orb in the next few days. So, while the Sun is bringing an evolutionary level focus to it today, you have been in a longer fated period in your sovereign dance, where perhaps you have been stepping out in some way and claiming your sovereignty, or perhaps you have been called to manage the interaction with your clients to enable best practice.

The more in touch with yourself you have been through this time, the better this will have gone. Now with the Venus sextile to Mars over the next couple of days, you have a last chance to step out and do the sovereign dance that enables your authenticity.

However a note of caution, when we embrace our sovereignty, Varuna enables us to oversee the world and make impartial judgments. This unlimited knowledge can, however, blind us to the need to act in an immediate crisis because we understand that in the long-term, action is not in fact necessary. We know that the system will right itself. But this analysis doesn’t factor in the pragmatic need to be seen to be in control.

So if you have been remaining inactive in a crisis in the last months, because you know it will resolve itself, this inaction may be causing you to lose power or status. And, if that is happening, others who do act will likely be given the power in your stead. In this case you are best advised to use these next few days to live up to the demands of the body politic and be seen to be in control.

So Varuna teaches us to stay engaged when the body-politic requires it, or risk losing our hard-earned sovereignty. But he also brings the knowledge of when to ‘let it be’, when the other person has to do the work and there is no point in trying to do it for them.

So if people have been coming to you and asking you to do work for them, consider, is this part of your sovereign duty? Or is it best to let them have their own learning experience? This pragmatic engagement between your duty and your divine understanding is at the heart of the dance of Varuna’s sovereignty.

We can think of Varuna as the higher octave of Saturn. Both are supreme rulers, but where Saturn limits, controls, and structures, Varuna transmutes this energy into self-sufficient mastery. With Saturn we need permission, with Varuna we give ourselves permission. So, I encourage anyone working in a spiritual field who wants to develop their business, to study their Varuna.
