The Astrology of Haumea

This is the first of a series of textbooks on the astrology of the new dwarf planets, based on the research at the Dwarf Planet University.

Probably the most valuable section is the house interpretations, looking at how Haumea manifests in our daily lives with example case studies.

There is also a workbook to locate and on-board this new energy in your chart. And a section introducing each of the dwarf planets to put Haumea in context.

Jupiter, Saturn yod to Makemake

I hope you are enjoying today's Jupiter sextile Saturn. This aspect encourages us to expand our lives. But Saturn is stationary retrograde, so under this influence we are both expanding our structure and contemplating consolidation at the same time.

Both Jupiter and Saturn are also closely inconjunct Makemake, so the three planets are forming a yod which points to Makemake. The inconjuncts are fated aspects, and the yod is also known as the Finger of Fate.

Makemake drives spirit into our lives when we are devoted and in the natural rhythm. He is the higher octave of Uranus and he talks about the culture or nation that is addressed through Uranus's intuitive network.

Where Mercury talks of the lower mind, and Uranus talks of the higher mind, Makemake talks of the wider mind, of a consciousness that is not limited to the brain, but like an aura encompasses more than just our physical selves.

We can think of him as our model of reality. There is no fixed reality independent of our perception, we interpret the phenomena we experience and build a model of our world. And we use that as a reference point to make decisions in our lives.

Makemake's placement at the tip of the yod tells us that our reality model will be crucial in determining the success of our mission to expand our reality while we start contracting at the same time.

If our model is fairly accurate, we will know where we can cut back without undermining the expansion. And our reality model always requires updating based on our current experience, so if you adopt a trial and error approach this week during the yod, you will be able to adjust your understanding of the world, as you get feedback on your efforts.

The danger with Makemake is that we use our understanding of the world to blend into the background, we use it as a way of keeping ourselves safe. And over the long term this becomes a habit and undermines our ability to engage with our lives.

If we have been using our Makemake to blend in, the current yod might manifest as pressure to step out from the shadows, to facilitate both the expansion and contraction that we are currently experiencing.

Makemake can also be verbally deceptive and manipulative at the unconscious level, so please double check the details of any agreements you are currently negotiating. He's a bit of a spiritual trickster, so if you do find sculduggery, look for the consciousness lesson that is being encouraged.
