The Astrology of Haumea

This is the first of a series of textbooks on the astrology of the new dwarf planets, based on the research at the Dwarf Planet University.

Probably the most valuable section is the house interpretations, looking at how Haumea manifests in our daily lives with example case studies.

There is also a workbook to locate and on-board this new energy in your chart. And a section introducing each of the dwarf planets to put Haumea in context.

Mars trine Node & square Sedna

I hope you are enjoying today's Mars trine the North Node. Today we can take action to advance our destiny. Mars is right at the start of Virgo, just shy of 1 degree, with the Node also sitting at less than 1 degree Taurus.

So Mars is a baby energy, still exploring his new earth sign. While the Node moves the other way around the chart, diving in to the fullness of the of the high degrees, and refining our dharmic work as it reaches the early ones. So this suggests we might be fairly clear about what our destiny is, but maybe not about what action we should take to get there.

Mars is also square Sedna, while Sedna is semi-sextile the North Node. So the push is coming from our spiritual destiny, challenging us to take action to advance our practical destiny. Sedna is very much a baby in her new air sign, at 0 degrees Gemini.

I'm including the placement degrees, because I received some feedback on the last newsletter from Suzette in Spain, suggesting that they would be helpful to know, so we can relate the transits to our own chart. I do welcome feedback on any of the information in these newsletters, as it is in that interactive process that we best uncover the meaning of these new planets.

So let's look at how this spiritually destined push to take action might be manifesting in our lives. Obviously any close aspects with either transiting Sedna or Mars in our chart, will be strongly influencing this process, so these should be looked at first.

Then we want to study the house that Sedna is transiting, because that is the area of our lives in which this push from our soul is manifesting. Next, note if transiting Sedna has changed houses from her natal position in your chart. The natal position tells us what our soul really wants to do in this life to grow and develop. While the transiting position tells us how this is manifesting in our lives today.

Gaia Theory

Let's look at some case studies to help us understand this square between Mars and Sedna. James Lovelock, the father of Gaia Theory, has Sedna on the 6th house cusp, square Mars in the 9th house.

Gaia theory proposes essentially that the Earth is a living organism, in which animate and inanimate matter work together to create the planetary being we call home, and that we are the evolving consciousness of that being.

As we can see, those of us with Sedna in the 6th are futurists, because we can see the big picture of where today's daily routine will lead. And with the square to Mars in the 9th, the spiritual push in James Lovelock's life resulted in the publication of ground-breaking books.

And looking at the transiting aspects for the date his book Gaia was published, there was also a square between transiting Mars and transiting Sedna that day. With Sedna transiting the 7th house, he was learning to interface his natal futurism with people, in one-to-one relationships. And the transiting square to Mars in the ninth, reinforces the natal square, increasing the spiritual push to release a groundbreaking publication.

Miracle Cure

And Edgar Cayce, the renownd christian mystic, seer, and founder of modern wholistic medicine, had transiting Mars semi-square transiting Sedna when he gave a reading that cured Aime Dietrich, his first “miracle case”, after specialists could do nothing for the child.

Natally he had Sedna in the 8th house of sensitivity to the spirit world, and she was still transiting through that house for his miracle cure. Mars meanwhile was transiting through his 10th house of profession, so the spiritual push was to start a new career as a medical seer.

So we can see the spiritual push in both these case studies, but while it is easy to see here, it is frequently harder to see in our own lives. So if you can't see the spiritual push at this moment in your life, a good way to use this transit would be to sign up for our Sedna course and deepen your understanding of this powerful new goddess.

The Astrology of Haumea, Neptune's Higher Octave

5 out of 5 stars

Essential addition to any Astrological library.

Amazon review. Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2023.

As human consciousness expands, so does the number of outer planets which come into our awareness – and vice versa.

Alan Clay, the founder of the Dwarf Planet University (‘pioneering the astrological exploration of the Kuiper Belt’), and his assistant teacher and co-author, Melissa Billington, recognise how these trans- Neptunian bodies operate as ‘higher octaves’ of the planets with which we are familiar. The result is an extraordinary deepening and broadening of the understanding of the natal chart and (through transit) the potential of our lives.

Haumea (a Fire/Earth guardian goddess of Hawaii) gifts us the capacity to ‘simply know in our bones that we are interconnected’. She ‘takes the psychic opening of Neptune and turns it into real psychic connection with the oneness of our existence, with the magic of being alive.’ This fact alone should be enough to encourage us to buy this essential addition to any astrological library. But there’s a lot more…

Starting with the physical nuts and bolts of orbital characteristics, the book recounts Haumea’s myth, explores the astrological meaning, includes the Sabian symbol, explores Haumea through the signs and houses, and offers some compelling and fascinating chart examples: Martin Luther King Jr; Diana, Princess of Wales, and Joseph Campbell.

This book is like an encapsulated Dwarf Planet University course, offering detailed instructions on how to find Haumea in your own chart. And if all of that isn’t enough, the book even includes a whistle stop, birds eye view tour through all the Dwarf Planets.

This is the future of astrology and, whether beginner or seasoned professional, this book is a very welcome treasure trove on the leading edge of contemporary astrological knowledge. Amazon review
