The Astrology of Haumea

This is the first of a series of textbooks on the astrology of the new dwarf planets, based on the research at the Dwarf Planet University.

Probably the most valuable section is the house interpretations, looking at how Haumea manifests in our daily lives with example case studies.

There is also a workbook to locate and on-board this new energy in your chart. And a section introducing each of the dwarf planets to put Haumea in context.

I hope you are enjoying today's Venus trine Chiron. We tend to think of Chiron as wounding and healing, but I prefer to think of him as growth, That's what wounding and healing is, a growth process. And it is only when we are are not sensitive to what's happening in our lives that we get wounded. So if we are sensitive to our values today, we can grow through our relationships and heal any wounds we may have.

Meanwhile tomorrow's Sagittarius New Moon will be closely conjunct Varda, our new planet of inspiration consciousness, at 29 degrees Sagittarius. This will be a light-filled new beginning in our lives. With this New Moon you are starting out on a new adventure which is likely to be motivated by finding some inspiration or some hope.

Hope is a powerful shaping force in our lives, because it gives us motivation, resilience, and a sense of agency to overcome challenges and improve our well-being. It enables us to face the interactive struggles in our lives with a positive outlook, which empowers us to work toward our goals by focusing on potential solutions and a better future.

In the mythology of the Lord of the Rings, Varda inspired her people with light and hope when the Dark Lord took over the Middle Earth, and she led the Elves away from danger and across the sea to a new safer home. So, at the top level, she gives us the ability to inspire others and guide them through a period of change into a new state of being.

So this month you might see the light in some way, or someone could show you the light and be able to lead you through a transition into a new state of being. Or you could be bringing the light yourself to this new beginning, or perhaps you are starting out on a new light-bringing adventure in the world.

When we're reacting unconsciously to Varda, however, we might find that we are living in a rich fantasy world which has little contact with reality. There is nothing wrong with this, Varda's fantasy world functions beautifully. However the New Moon & Varda conjunction is closely square Neptune, which might turn our fantasy world into an illusion and so introduce a disconnect between our personal world and reality.

The hopeful fantasies of Varda echo Neptune's imaginative, inspirational energy, so the current square between the two planets is likely to accentuate either our tendency to inspire others and bring light into our lives, or to retreat into our personal dream world.

Varda is the interactive struggle we have with our opponents, or with the dark forces in the world, which we win by being inspiring and hopeful, and by creating light in the dark times and places. So the square from Neptune could also be bringing an interactive spiritual struggle that is challenging you to be hopeful and to shine your light in the world in some way.

This square has been within one degree for the last month, it is exact tomorrow on the New Moon, and it will stay in orb for the next three months, as Varda enters Capricorn for the first time, and Neptune dives back into Aries for the last time. So we're into a period of challenge between our inspiration consciousness and our spiritual consciousness. However, as you align these energies, your spiritual consciousness can reinforce your hopefulness and your ability to find inspiration in these unsettled times.

This is the fifth square between these two planets that we've experienced since May 2023, so there is likely to have been a build up in your interactive spiritual struggle over this time period. The outer planet transits represent phases in our lives, and each of the exact hits manifests as steps in this phasal journey. I talked about this aspect in April this year, and April last year, and we are now experiencing the last of these squares.

And, because it is occurring at the anaretic degree as the two planets change signs, we're reaching the culmination of the process, as we set off on a new spiritual mission with Neptune in Aries, and find a new practical social way to bring hope and inspiration into our lives with Varda in Capricorn.

So, with the New Moon conjunction to Varda, opening to hope and embracing the new light-bringing adventure that you are starting out on this month will be the key to enabling your transition to a new practical light-filled state of being once Varda enters Capricorn on the 15th of January.
