North Node sesquiquadrate Varuna

I hope you are enjoying today's Mercury sextile to Mars, because it is giving you the opportunity to act on your ideas. Mercury is also semi-square our new planet of mastery consciousness, Varuna, at 8 degrees of Leo. So we could be claiming our sovereignty in our communications, or others could be challenging us to embrace our sovereignty by asking us to help them in some way.

In the face of these claims and demands, remember, Varuna is the higher octave of Saturn, so we give ourselves permission, rather than receive it from others. This means that it's up to us which demands we honour and which claims we make.

Meanwhile the North Node is also sesquiquadrate Varuna, so we have a challenge between our practical destiny and our sovereignty. This aspect is a square and a half, so it's urging us to develop our sovereignty to enable us to do the destined new work that we're here to do.

How shall we do this? Once we are on the spiritual path, we embrace our sovereignty simply by standing in the centre of our lives and owning the results of our dance of karma and dharma. When wedo this, Varuna enables us to oversee the world and make impartial judgments.

In myth he has a thousand eyes and he empowers us to know what is true in any situation and what is morally right. He gives us a desire for justice and the ability to understand the Divine Order. And, when we do the work required, we gain access to unlimited knowledge and can become a sort of sage in some area.

At this spiritual level, Varuna can help you develop your individual brilliance and talent by enabling a deep devotion to a particular area of passion. You know that you are ultimately dependent on both your heart and the fire of your soul. And, by focussing deeply on your passion, you can build up a vast experience which feeds your soul.

The sesquiquadrate between the North Node and Varuna came within a 1 degree orb a week ago, and it will be exact on Tuesday next week, 10th June, and move out of 1 degree orb 4 days later as the Node speeds up. So if you have been developing a deep focus on a particular area of passion over the last week, this will intensify in the coming week, increasing your sovereignty and enabling you to do the destined new work that you're here to do.

So what is the secret to moving from the permission based structure of Saturn, to the 'give yourself permission' based sovereignty of Varuna? The Sabian Symbol for the discovery degree, 11 degrees of Cancer, gives us a clue. It is: A clown caricaturing well-known personalities.

Laughter and De-conditioning

All of our experience has conditioned us to approach the world in a certain way, and much of that conditioning was out of our control and in the hands of parents, or teachers, or it was just inherent in the society in which we were brought up. We carry this Saturnian conditioning in our body as tension and in our psyche as fixed attitudes, both of which inform or control our every move.

Laughter enables the release of this conditioning. By laughing at our own petty habits and mannerisms, and at the existing social structures and roles, we enable a de-conditioning process which frees us to claim our sovereignty. When we take ourselves lightly, we enable our mastery consciousness.

So you could have been going through a de-conditioning process during this past week, which is freeing you to do your destined new work over the coming week as the aspect becomes exact. If you are struggling with conditioning, use this week to seek out situations that make you laugh, go to a comedy show or watch a funny movie.

To use myself as a case study, I have Varuna on the cusp of my 5th house of creativity and, as many of you know, I have worked for many years as a clown teacher. The fifth house is the house of joy, passion, and love, and it can relate to teaching your passion through the connection to the opposite eleventh house of collective consciousness. 

I have the feeling that I have worked for many lives as a clown and I've always said I was moving on from that in this life. And now I have, but I'm still using the skills that I developed through my Varuna-in-the-5th-house-clown-work to claim my sovereignty, only now I'm doing it as a dwarf planet astrologer - something even more rare than a clown teacher - and you reinforce this sovereignty by reading this newsletter.

What I find lovely these days is that people frequently thank me for doing the work that I do. That is so supportive of the dance of sovereignty that I'm constantly doing to bring these new consciousness energies into our collective consciousness. Thanks team. We do this dance together, to increase our consciousness and our sovereignty.
