The Astrology of Haumea

This is the first of a series of textbooks on the astrology of the new dwarf planets, based on the research at the Dwarf Planet University.

Probably the most valuable section is the house interpretations, looking at how Haumea manifests in our daily lives with example case studies.

There is also a workbook to locate and on-board this new energy in your chart. And a section introducing each of the dwarf planets to put Haumea in context.

Sun quintile Haumea

I hope you are enjoying today's Mercury trine Jupiter. This trine is in effect all week, with Mercury slowing down at 14 degrees Virgo and Jupiter doing the same at 14 degrees Taurus.

This means we should be able to reach out this week and make contact with someone to expand our lives in a practical way. Mercury will station retrograde in a couple of weeks and Jupiter will do the same in 4 weeks, so take advantage of this opportunity while they are both still moving forward.

Venus, of course is already moving backward, so we will need to be self motivated to be able to take advantage of the Mercury Jupiter opportunity. Venus will be conjunct the Sun this weekend at 20 degrees Leo. This is the mid-point of her retrograde cycle, but in orbital terms it is the point where she is closest to us in her orbit.

Venus is lapping the Earth in the retrograde period and the conjunction with the Sun, called Venus Cazimi, is traditionally not thought of as good for Venus, because the Sun overpowers her energy. But because of the orbital resonance, for the 3 weeks leading up to the Cazimi we're in the phase of the Venus cycle where we can get most intimately in touch with our values and relationships.

And then for the last half of the Venus retrograde we have to walk that walk, or talk that talk, as we refine those values or relationships. So the three weeks after the Cazimi can require the most work bedding these practices into place.

As we prepare for the weekend's Sun Venus Cazimi, the Sun will be quintile Haumea over the next couple of days - with the Sun at 16 degrees Leo, and Haumea at 29 degrees Libra. Anything the Sun touches is central to our lives and the quintile is an evolutionary opportunity which must be consciously developed. While Haumea is the regenerative psychic energy that pours into us when we connect with source.

So we have an opportunity in the next couple of days to embrace a regenerative process and make it central to our lives. This may feel a bit like a psychic recharge, empowering us through our connection to source.

Children Blowing Soap Bubbles

The discovery degree of these new dwarf planets is like a birth moment as they arrive in our consciousness, and the Sabian Symbol for that degree gives us one pathway to interpret the meanings of these new planets. The Sabian Symbols were channelled by clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler and astrologer Marc Edmund Jones, and they give us rich visual symbols for each degree of the zodiac.

Haumea was discovered at 13 degrees Libra and the Sabian Symbol for that degree is Children Blowing Soap Bubbles.

So, this discovery symbol tells us that we can best access Haumea’s deep spirituality through a spirit of play. Haumea brings us in touch with the magic of each moment, with the enchantment of being alive. And this symbol reminds us to retain our light-hearted joy as the best way to connect with the divine.

So in these next couple of days, with the quintile between the Sun and Haumea, the more we can maintain our contact with the magic of being alive, the more rejuvenation and psychic support we will experience as we head towards the Venus Cazimi on the weekend.

“I have been sensing a reciprocity in my study of the dwarf planets. As I shift focus and embrace each of their unique energies, I am in turn rewarded by a richer understanding of myself and the world in which we live.” Alison Glennie, Ireland

The Astrology of Haumea, Neptune's Higher Octave

This is the first of a series of textbooks on the astrology of the new dwarf planets, based on the research at the Dwarf Planet University. Probably the most valuable section is the house interpretations, looking at how Haumea manifests in our daily lives with example case studies.

5 out of 5 stars

Essential addition to any Astrological library.

Amazon review. Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2023.

As human consciousness expands, so does the number of outer planets which come into our awareness – and vice versa.

Alan Clay, the founder of the Dwarf Planet University (‘pioneering the astrological exploration of the Kuiper Belt’), and his assistant teacher and co-author, Melissa Billington, recognise how these trans- Neptunian bodies operate as ‘higher octaves’ of the planets with which we are familiar. The result is an extraordinary deepening and broadening of the understanding of the natal chart and (through transit) the potential of our lives.

Haumea (a Fire/Earth guardian goddess of Hawaii) gifts us the capacity to ‘simply know in our bones that we are interconnected’. She ‘takes the psychic opening of Neptune and turns it into real psychic connection with the oneness of our existence, with the magic of being alive.’ This fact alone should be enough to encourage us to buy this essential addition to any astrological library. But there’s a lot more…

Starting with the physical nuts and bolts of orbital characteristics, the book recounts Haumea’s myth, explores the astrological meaning, includes the Sabian symbol, explores Haumea through the signs and houses, and offers some compelling and fascinating chart examples: Martin Luther King Jr; Diana, Princess of Wales, and Joseph Campbell.

This book is like an encapsulated Dwarf Planet University course, offering detailed instructions on how to find Haumea in your own chart. And if all of that isn’t enough, the book even includes a whistle stop, birds eye view tour through all the Dwarf Planets.

This is the future of astrology and, whether beginner or seasoned professional, this book is a very welcome treasure trove on the leading edge of contemporary astrological knowledge. Amazon review
